Vocabulary:

- advocate - to support something publicly
- antipathy - a strong feeling of dislike
- emancipate - to free somebody, especially from legal, political or social restrictions
- idiosyncrasy - a person’s particular way of behaving, thinking, etc., especially when it is unusual; an unusual feature
- imminent - (especially of something unpleasant) likely to happen very soon
- impede - to delay or stop the progress of something
- inclusive - having the total cost, or the cost of something that is mentioned, contained in the price
- jurisdiction - the authority that an official organization has to make legal decisions about somebody/something
- precarious - (of a situation) not safe or certain; dangerous
- preposterous - completely unreasonable, especially in a way that is shocking or annoying

- austere - simple and plain; without any decorations
- esoteric - likely to be understood or enjoyed by only a few people with a special knowledge or interest
- facsimile - an exact copy of something
- grotesque - strange in a way that is unpleasant or offensive
- mesmerize - to have such a strong effect on you that you cannot give your attention to anything else
- metamorphosis - a process in which somebody/something changes completely into something different
- notorious - well known for being bad
- perfunctory - (of an action) done as a duty or habit, without real interest, attention or feeling
- provocative - intended to make people angry or upset; intended to make people argue about something
- travesty - something that does not have the qualities or values that it should have, and as a result is often shocking or offensive
